I assume you speak of mental ray?

The mental ray material does work a lot different than a normal material. You need to assign correct shaders to get every effect you require, please read the documentation regarding mental ray shaders.

However, what you can do is to open the composite map in the Surface and add a new layer with a “Material to Shader” to it and assign a Standard Material (or whatever), then you can blend the actual shading effect in any way you want. Please check the documentation on the composite map as well for this.

:DJust wanted to say thank you!

I think bjorn or normann said that version 2.0 will bring serious improvement to the tool … major improvements to an already great tool … I must say I’m checking this thread everyday for the new version … to the point where my eyes are bloodshot …

haha check back this weekend, hopefully we’ll be able to release something. Right now, I’m just bug fixing, and I’m also preparing a pretty cool auto-update feature that will hopefully save you the pain of checking the forum every day

But so far, multi-import/export, auto-append new meshes and 3dsmax 2011 compatibility are working almost flawlessly

Hi Norman

First of all thank you for this great tool !!
Maybe a selfish suggestion. When i import a mesh from Max to ZBrush the object is pretty small in Z and in the background …take some time to fiddle my object to the front where i can model it…would it be possible to use the active viewport (when exporting) in max in Zbrush also ?? SO that i have the same view then in max?
I dont know if i explain that good enough…

Unfortunately it does not seem to be possible to “sync” both cameras. Have a look here:

Norman3D, I just wanted to take a moment to join the masses here and say thank you for providing such a tool to us. I’m sure it takes a lot of work to bug fix a program like this (heck, Pixologic has been working on GoZ since before August! ) and the community certainly appreciates your dedication to making our lives easier. Thank you so much!

EDIT: I didn’t mean to leave you out, Bjorn. Thank you for your hard work as well!

    Wow O_O U yesterday got 1.9 and now another release… LOVE U !!!..

Just 1 question… How to clean up my files? I got leftovers since 1.5 :s Should I just Delete them all manually just like I put them there or simply install the script and not worry ?

Do you have admin rights? I have tried uninstalling and installing it again in 3dsMax 2011 and it works just fine, with admin rights that is.

I can’t even remember how 1.5 was installed. Was it sitting in a folder in C:\GoMax ? In that case simply delete that folder. The new GoMax installer should take care of the rest.

    Thanks !

Thnx for all the work you put in this
    and for this fast reply.

i am admin and uac is off.
    all earlier versions installed ok.

is it, like older versions, still possible to install the plug in manualy?
(if you can tell me where to put the files of course, )

    TIA
    P

    Thank you for this great plugin :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

    Hey Norman,

It only works for me with DirectX enabled. If I check standard or mental ray as my material, I get an error when I import back from Zbrush.

Maxscript error - “unknown property use.DiffuseMap”

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Matt

norman, i can’t reply to your inbox anymore.
seems your message box is full

I am also getting the same error as Patpotlood, but I am using max2010 x64. I have tried to run as admin but no dice. Thanks for the great plug, it has saved me so much time in production. Looking forward to trying out the multiple subtools export!

    Thanks,
    GG
