Go Z and Layer Issue

I am trying to make an edit to the mesh by using go Z and Maya 2012. I have no problem getting the new topology back in, my problem is with keeping my layers, since after you go-z it bakes all layers. If I had a few layers I would like to keep along with the new topology, how would I go about it?

I know that if I duplicate the sub-tool once for each layer I have (luckily only 2), and use morph targets I can project them. But this poses another issue. I would like to keep my topology EXACTLY the same for both base meshes. I have not been able to use the same base mesh (the one i tweaked in maya) for both of my duplicates. Once I bring back the fixed mesh from Maya back to Zbrush, everything is fine, but how can I use that same base mesh to bring it back once again for the duplicate sub-tool? It asks to re-link or re-name if I try to use fixed mesh again. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

A good trick to know isto export the mesh (obj or goz) which correspond of the mesh you wish to keep as a morph. The when you need to switch back to the “original morph”, just import back the previously exported model. It is perfect for the base mesh level, but it works to for any subD levels.

Thanks, that should work.
