the second one are smoothed model, i dunno wut happened at all:(

i subdivided my model to lvl4, it looks was fine(pic1). then i start to sculpt my hands to add more detail, when i go back to see my model i found somehow my model got smoothed…

I’m not sure if this is your problem, but whenever you subdivide your model the lower levels will be smoothed to better conform with the new subdivision level (atleast I think that’s why). when you step back down to a lower level, you will see that detail in that level has been smoothed away to some extent.

hmm i’m not sure. I subdivided my model to lvl4 and it looks was fine, then i start to sculpt my model’s detail such as hands/feet (masked), somehow when i switched back to overview my whole model i found my model got slightly smoothed which made detail disappeared… what kind of operation would cause the problem?:frowning:

hmm i dunno… i subdivided my model to lvl4 and it looks was fine, then i start to sculpt my model to get more detail, so i masked hand/foot to sculpt, when i switch back to see my whole model i found my model got slightly smoothed… and i dunno why… is there have any operation would cause the smooth problem?:frowning:

Hello xds333

I’m sure that the subdiv-mesh smooth is the problem, and very annoying. But that is the way the algorithm works. You can see clearly the loss of detail in the ear region on your model.
I ran into this some time ago…Annoying Mesh Problem

Reimporting the mesh (or -if the unsubdiv mesh hasn’t been saved- the ‘cage’ function) helps, but does not work on Models with ZSpheres connected to the mesh.
