Gladiator

Hello,

Here is a image with a character from a bigger personal project I was working on a while ago. But since I dont have much time for personal work anymore it has kinda fallen into oblivion. However I decided to dig him up again for the Exotique book from Ballistic. And this is the result.
This is a frame from the animation that I now promised myself Im going to complete (yeah, right…).

Model done in Xsi and then detailed (or rather defined) in zbrush.
Textures was then made with Zbrush and Photoshop before bringing it over to 3dsmax for shading, rigging etc. The image was rendered using mentalray.

Excellent!!

Absolutely love the textures and lighting.

The model is not so bad either;)

Just kidding…very cool.

You have me curious now about the animation…that’s for sure.

Whoa ho ho…that’s awesome! I really love the texture work you did on this one!

Love it man, beautiful sutle design and model, looks kinda thoughtful,is the render in XSI 5,I was thinking about getting it myself, anyway top row stuff I’d say.

Very nice! Dumb question: Why porting it to the Max when you had it in XSI where specially rigging is so much more advanced?

Cheers

Theres so much character in this guys face - he looks as though he has a tragic story to tell. Beautiful.

Not dumb at all.
I’d say my main reasons are Cloth (clohFX), Hair (ornatrix) and MR 3.4.
With XSI 5 released the last one is fixed, but Im not a huge fan of Shave nor Syflex, at least not in a small scale production.
I guess you could sum it up like this:
For a small project I go 3dsmax, if its a bigger production with loads of people and TDs I’d go XSI or Maya.
And I have to say that the rigging tools for 3dsmax is not as bad as many people seem to think, although I admit they are better, or at least have more possibilities, in XSI and maya.
But then again, I must say that ACT for max is the best commercial muscle plugin I have ever used…

Anyway, whatever gets the job done!

Fantastic, this is one of the nicest cg characters I have seen. Not just technically…but the concept of the alien is really great, and there is a good sense of emotion and realism even though it’s not human.

SImply stunning!!!:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Makes me wanna work harder with Zbrush!

(hoppas vi hörs snart så ska du få se hur det går med vampyrerna)

The character looks like it has a soul, like someone said ‘hey’ and just took his photo. Really impressive.

wao !!!

beautiful work, congratulations !:+1:
did you paint the textures in own ZBrush?

stuh505 has already said everything I feel about this image. The sense of character and emotion is exceptional.

I hope a day to see a full tutorial from u…from modeling to texturing to render…YOU TOTALLY ROCK MAN! Cheers from Italy.

OMG that is HOT!

Awesome model, great character, fantastic job!

SubDivMe: Just an exquisite piece all around. You really captured a sense of a living being here. The model and especially the textures are amazing, but it’s the overall feeling of a living creature that really sets this one apart.

BRAVO!!!
