getting weird lines in my maps when making textures

Hey guys,

I’m having an issue with artifacts that appear when exporting maps of any kind (color from polypaint, normal, displacement):

(note the thin vertical lines)


Any idea what’s causing this? It’s happening to a couple of different models I’m working on. I’m using ZBrush 4 in Windows 7. My meshes are coming over from Max 2012, and nothing looks wonky with the UVs on that end.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have. I’m kinda stumped, but then I’m also very new to ZBrush.

Your UVs probably extend right to the edge of the UV space. This can result in ZBrush wrapping points causing the lines. Reduce the scale of your UVs a touch so that they are within the space.

That makes sense. I’ll give it a try.
