I didn’t even think to use the PS liquid filter-what a good idea. i modified the face by reducing the nose and eye size and tweaking the mouth shape. I do feel it does look better- (not a homerun) but better.

Steve,
He’s definately getting there. The smaller eyes help to tag him as Bush. The changes are fairly subtle, though. I found that when I exxagerate the features a lot, the subject is more instantly recognizable. Of course I don’t get paid for my characture work, so again, take any of my advice witha grain of salt…
Oh and my 25% more chimp comment before is slightly off the mark. When I was playing I found that if you mix him with Alfred E. Neuman, the Mad magazine mascot, it works a LOT better. It’s funny, but political cartoonists have been comparing him to Alfred and now that I’ve played with George a bit, i see why…
Do you wish to see the mods I made to the original? It illustrates the points I’m trying to make here better than my words…
Dickie
A really nice painterly style.
the eyes are too big (not beady enough) and he looks like about 15 years younger.
But I really like the texture, lighting and composition.
Did you paint the brush strokes in Zbrush? Love to know your step-by-step.
You got it, Bro…On her way…
Dickie
here is the mesh I used in the paiting.

I wish i saved some of the steps-
Excellent!
I’m curious how you use this 3d base to paint on it…
5 stars for sure!
Little things make a big difference. Great improvement I can’t say that I can see anything you could now change that would do anything but detract from your style. I look forward to your future posts.
Forgive me for my prior posts. A shot of the news and way to much coffee makes me a bad boy:o :o :o
If you are interested have a play with this thing I have just knocked up. I am not saying it is the definitive G Bush… but it could give you some ideas. This was modelled straight from memory and is not as good as it could be. The tool included here needs to be subdivided twice.
This may sound crazy, But I agree with ZOOPI & BOOZY.
Look,Politics aside, It has a great style but misses getting the charactor dead on. I design crap every day (with clay) They aint all gems let me tell ya, but if the style is strong and the intent is there, it can still be a winner!
Nice job 5 stars for style!
Patton
FridayEve, I use painter also and I like your work. I think if you work on the features a bit it could spot on. ed_the_atom’s model’s nose is pointed in the right direction. It looks good as a hood ornament.

…is a mine for caricatures
@FridayEve
Your blog is a true gem
What do you think of this ZB technic by Ken B for make caricatures ?
Still better then invading a country, taking over control just to control the oil flow …and call it democracy
Hehe, sorry, just the name Bush sends a shiver down my spine. I’ll stop bickering.
Thats art for ya…
Yeah well… the first model above wasn’t that good, although better at higher subdivision levels which however I could not post because of size restrictions here. So that tool lost its detailing etc etc.
So on another computer, in another city, with a totally new mesh I again modelled Bush from memory. And, again I could not post the detailed model at subdiv 7, nor could I open up that Zbrush bush tool on this computer, because I took out most of the RAM and put it in yet another computer so I can not show you the pic of the detailed tool either, and as I am no longer in the city where I created this Bush I am restricted… Blah blah.
This new tool is restricted again to a div 3 (which I had prepared) for
here on this site. The image here shows on the left the first restricted Bush and on the right the new restricted Bush tool posted in this reply post. (It is a better likeness). Umm I think I may have subbed the tool in the pic to 5 without any further detailing from sub3. Anyway still a quickie tool.
This tool may or may not help you, but who knows.
Ed- thanks for the tool. Yeah, I can now see some of the fundimental flaws I should have put into the model: mostly the hawk-like nose. One of the biggest things i learned from that tool is the need to put more edge loops in the eye/mouth area as well as pulling the pole to the corner of the nose. thanks again.
Great image, and great thread.
Nice to see a whole lot of angry artists. Like love, hate, religion and politics are great things to discuss… just everyone play nice.
Great job all round.
I think you make Bush look handsome, even if you didn’t care one way or another.
He’s certainly more handsome here than say the guy that plays him on LENO late at night. LOL.
Great job on the model and painting.
Let’s go to the moon ! lol
I think FridayEye dont look good. Bush is not like that ! who is this guy ? Ben Laden ? See the nose
wow, wnet to your gallery and blog! your skin textures and subjects are great! you can tell you have alot of fun doing those drawings! well done!
