geometry levels dont update correctly after tranpose

Hello, Can you help me?

The problem im having is that I have a belt buckle that and a character modeled in Zb4. I use subtool master multi-append to import belt buckle as subtool. The buckle has 4 parts. I want to keep division history on my pieces if I can. So I decided to manually scale, rotate, and move each piece into the right place. I lower my geometry to the lowest division. I do the move. I turn my geometry back up to 8 divisions, and its all messed-up.

Why does this happen? Does Zbrush inherently have a problem with this sort of thing? I dont want to merge my tools because they will then permanently be at the highest geometry division. What do I do so I can translate w/o errors?

HOWEVER it seems that if I leave it at 8 divisions and translate it, it doesnt get messed-up. But transposing something with 8 divisions is pretty tough as Zb4 gets laggy. There has to be a better way that doesnt mess up the high divisions.

P.S. Also symmetry is off.
