Geometry HD Questions...?

So I brought a model in to ZB, sub-divided a few times then hit it with a DivideHD and my questions are:

  1. What is the difference between SculptHD and RadialRgn?
  2. If I DivideHD shouldn’t my normal maps reflect a smoother more precise map?
  3. Once I DivideHD I can’t access my sub-divides anymore, so how would I drop 1 Sub-D to create a normal map?

1.SculptHD and RadialRgn are not one or the other options. If you leave RadialRgn on it makes your HD sculpt area a spherical shape, if not then its a rectangular shape i think. If you click SculptHD it makes your mesh look HD and prompts you to highlight the wanted area and press’A’ to start sculpting.

  1. & 3.

I’m not sure about the normal map stuff.
I read somewhere you can duplicate the subtool and it will get rid of the HD mode but still preserve the detail. I would then use decimation master and/or
“reconstruct lowerSubD” to create the lower res meshes to generate the normal maps with.

Just make sure its all UVed of course :smiley:
