Funky's 3d sculptage

hey thanks a bunch myselfsama, xada, and john!!
I was asked a couple times to go into more detail about how I used the curveSurface brush for cloth, so I made a little image.
I found it super useful for simple flowy cloth. I’ll have to experiment more with complex surfaces, but let me know if you have any questions!

A fabulous piece of work Chris.:+1: Always a pleasure when you post.

Cool tip for cloth - the curve snap distance brush gives an even quaded mesh that the curve surface brush doesn’t.

Very cool process and excellent results!

beautiful

I need to ask something here and also say something.
Firstly, the technique is indeed well done and the overall design is satisfactory in the graphic art sense
although in some areas like the leg positions a bit on the edge of being visually unbalanced.
So never mind, job pretty well done.
Secondly and here is the question, WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?
It seems as if there is some new age equilibrium thing going on but then there is this overwhelming
sexualized race thing as well which just makes no sense. I mean it could be a case for hand in hand etc
but then why the dress style?
Thirdly and this is just my gut reaction, I do not like the message even though I do not really understand
what that is. Seems to me that the idea behind a well done graphic was never really fully thought out
and at an art school this would be torn to shreds by even fellow students.
I do not wish to be down on you man but I feel that a crit was necessary from another perspective.

Nicely done. Fast and precise methods. And thanks for share your Flowy Cloth process. So helpful for me. :D:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

I really love this Funky Girls Sculpting, and to see the process is even greather.

Excellent crisp work.

Really great work. Love the timelapse video.

thanks for the tip, boozy floozie! I totally forgot that the CurveSnapSurface created evenly spaced quads from the getgo
and hey thanks a ton, you guys! I really appreciate it
and wow!! I never expected to get on top row, thanks so much to the ZBrushCentral peeps too

rooflyer77, thanks for your feedback. I totally understand that my work is not everyone’s cup of tea. I certainly didn’t mean to offend anyone, so I hope it didn’t push in that direction. As far as meaning, I’ve always interpreted the core yin-yang concept as meaning that any 2 seemingly contrary things are actually complementary parts of a whole. But the yin-yang concept is often oversimplified, so I didn’t really want to distract with too much emphasis on the literal personification of exactly what yin and yang should specifically look like, wear, or use. The hope was to make a standalone piece that would immediately appeal to the basic yin-yang motif, and invite people to think more about the concept for themselves. I’m sorry if it failed to do that for you, but thanks for taking a look

Excellent stuff! Love the breakdown and usage of the Curve Surface Brush!

YEAH Top Row ! Congratz Dude!!! :D:+1:

hey thanks a bunch, Joseph and Oliver!

nice work mate

Congrats on that top row, dude. Well deserved. I only wish I could play that game your characters were for. Games industry is ass some times.

Awesome work but quick question when I try using that technique the mesh created always seems to collapse in on itself in the middle so it goes from looking like a cylinder to something like and hour glass any ideas

thanks nightwoodwolf!
and Hector! thanks a bunch, dude :D. I’m lucky I was able to show anything from our canceled projects, but I wonder how much great art is made in the game industry that never even sees the light of day :frowning:

FND1234: thanks! I’m not totally sure why you’d get an hourglass shape from curveSurface, but be sure that you’re drawing the curve from the same side both times - start-end of curve #1 connects to start-end of curve #2. If you’re still getting issues, you might just have slightly too different of curvature on one curve vs the other. Try making it slightly more similar to the initial curve and see if it works any better. :+1:

Thanks for the break down man! Simple and super effective. Killer work!!

Oh man, congrats on top row!

awesome style! Love how you stylize shapes.
