Hey everyone, I’m new to the community and this is a little bit of a venting session. I’d love any thoughts you guys have on the matter.
So I’ve convinced my company to get zbrush because everything I’ve read said zbrush is the best… a little rough with the user interface but it’s the best. I’ve used 3ds max all my life (with ae and ps) and wanted to stay current, so I dove into Zee ZBrush!
Now that I’m using it… having trouble finding a smooth workflow and yes, I’ve googles the hell out of all these topics but Pixologic seems to have revamped their forums so all that knowledge is in limbo right now. As an artist, it’s great to find that tool that you pick up and lose yourself in the creation process. With zbrush, the interface demands constant attention. I seem to have to press 3 to 4 buttons just to switch brushes. The brushes themselves aren’t organized by their versatility but rather by their creation date. Camera movement is a known issue with no fix other than rotating on y-axis. I understand that Zbrush has undergone numerous revisions, building on the original version, but I can’t help but feeling that they’d have huge support behind creative a 3d-centric version. That said, my biggest questions currently are:
Which brushes do you guys use most? How about for mechanical objects?
It seems that it’s necessary to customize Zbrush to your liking, what are the best tools/user made scripts that help that process?
Why no right mouse click?
That said, I’ve also heard that Pixologic is amazing when it comes to customer support and community support which is why I’m here. I hope to become part of this great community and help others once I become familiar with Zbrush. Thanks to all those that listened and keep creating.
