from ZAppLink to texture. how to make it bigger than 1k×1k size

Hi,

I just threw away 2 hours of texturing.

I’ve made a 4k texture than I used ZAppLink to texture a head (Photoshop). Nothing showed on the little texture icon, but I still continued. Than under tool>texture map I hit ‘new from polypaint’ and I see the new texture in the little texture map window. But the texture is only 1k.
IF I hit ‘clone txtr’ there is a new texture in the left window, still 1k.

HOW can I make a 4k texture with all the details using ZAppLink?

Hi there … just make a new blank texture map (whatever size) before pressing “texture from polypaint”.

Like this your texture map will have the predetermined size.

Just don’t forget to make your UV map the same size for best results.

MY mistake was making a new texture (blank), but not ‘importing’ it into the tool>texture map. Now it’s OK.

NEW PROBLEM.

How can I make normal maps bigger than 1k maps? Everything I try it always come out 1k map and at that resolution, there are almost no vicible pores on the head I’m making.

P.S. I’m using zbrush 3.5.

I’ll just answer myself regarding the normal map size, maybe someone else will need this.

under tool>UV map you set the shize you want. 1k, 2k, 4k,…

lol, found the answer in a coment in youtube, go figure.

Also it seems that people just don’t read the wiki or even the PDF’s that come with 3.5 R3. I mean how do you think we found out? Calling Aurick every 5 minutes? Anyway, glad it works for you now.
