from where to start character modeling in Zbrush

Hi Guys,

I 've been doing lots of hard surface modeling, both in Zbrush and Maya and now I want move to character modeling…I mean like character for games as well as Photo realistic characters…

Can you guys direct me to from where to start…?

there’s a lot of content in Internet but if i can get some specific tuts or experts opinion on where to start…I would be really nice.

Thanks in advance.

im currently more or less in the same situation like you for a few weeks now:)

as far as i can tell there is no simple guide to produce outstanding work,
there are alot of books and tuts but they all use more or less different techniks and aproaches.

the baseline i extracted so far is:

learn anatomy …that doesnt mean become a doctor but you need to know where all these muscles and bones(landmarks) are
and where they start/end how they look (flexed/ unflexed) in what pose…proper bodyproportions… .to get a beliveable livelike look.

get refrences the more the better…from all angles…and they schould have as big resolution as possible to get the microdetails later in the process(pores and stuff).

develop the silhouette first…as far as possible…and with lowest subdiv as possible.

a good training for research schould be doing some ecorche studys to get a feel and understanding of the structure of each bodypart.

beware … making realistic /lifelike characters is an art within the arts theres no short/fast way.

all tuts and guides i saw so far seam to just reapeat the above.
