Hey All,
ZBrushCentral user Pablo Munoz Gomez has been using a workflow involving ZBrush, Marmoset Toolbag 3, and Adobe’s Substance Painter to create some stunning images. His process involves taking multiple 2D passes from ZBrush and sending them to these applications to generate a composite rendered image. When Pablo was doing this process manually it would take a while to setup so a ZBrush plugin was created to help automate this.
The ZBrush Compositor plugin allows you to send 2D ZBrush render passes to Marmoset Toolbag 3 or Adobe’s Substance Painter. Passes will be sent to these applications as image maps applied to a flat displaced Plane3D object. Marmoset Toolbag 3 and Adobe’s Substance Painter can then be used with these passes to generate a composite render.
Pablo has created a video series covering this technique on his website: ZBrushGuides.com. It shows his process using ZBrush and the ZBrush Compositor plugin. Here is a quick overview video from Pablo showing the ZBrush Compositor plugin in action:
The ZBrush Compositor plugin requires ZBrush 2020 and can be downloaded for FREE from the: Pixologic :: Resource Center. The ZBrush Compositor plugin is designed to work with ZBrush 2020 (naturally!), Marmoset Toolbag 3, and Adobe’s Substance Painter.
Information on Pablo’s video series using the ZBrush Compositor plugin can be found here: https://www.zbrushguides.com/zbrush-compositor/
