quality stuff, im a fan of #2 but I think a red ssash around the waist would look cool.
try 2° with red waistā¦i prefer 2 bcs i feel more balance color and grey metal looks (for me) more toughā¦hope can help^^
Frank, looking good! I like #3 for the colouring on the armour. Is that a matcap for the hand as well as polypaint? Or is that an sss skin shader in Max??
great stuff. Iād say that #1 is more in keeping with the tradisional feel for vega
So, 2 generic boring looking ones, and one cool and full off color ?;D
Easy pick, nr.3 the blue one, i would love to see even more colors in it ;D
More red, more yellow !
Wow iām really impressed by the painted hand!
#3 for sure.
The only thing bugging my brain about #3 is the mask loses itās connection to the rest of the piece. It is overall smoother and has less details, which is fine, but it doesnāt have any color connection, and is more matte than the rest of the armor.
Just want to add that before these recolors, I really wanted to like this piece, but for some reason couldnāt. But now, with the #3 recolor Iām liking it a lot.
Cheers
thank you all for the advises, all of them helped. i will try them all and see how it goes, thanks a lot!!!
@ Stephen yes its the matcap in zbrush with polypaint (BRP render)
@ julien n thanks a lot, glad you like it!!!
@ wasa thanks man, ill try to make the mask more color connection to the armor, thanks again!!!
Also youāre completing this work really well, the armor is wonderful with the material you have chosen the skin polypaint you come really well.
How did the armor, you have modeled it, with another program?
Unfortunately I had to repair the computer, standing still for a month!
@ ROXE thanks man!! i am sorry to hear that you have to repair your computer. well hope you can get it fix ASAP so you can do more CG works!!!
and about the armor i created, i actually model them in Zbrush and then use GoZ to 3ds max to do some adjustment, if you want ill can do a small tutorial about " How i did the armor" for you, just let me know!! cheers!!
Hi, Frank,
May I ask how you made the bootlace in you male soldier model?
I am quite new to Zbrush, and recently when I was trying to model something similar(a shoelace or a stitch), it really gave me huge headaches.
Thanks.
Frank,
Iād love to see anything youād like to post on how you did the armour, the renders (settings etc) for the hand/skin, etc etc!
Sharing is caring!
Thanks Frank, for the availables, if you do not steal too much time really appreciate your idea, good Job!!
the progress is undeniably good and fast thereā¦
like your works, esp. that buffed soldier with a halo type helmet and accessories looking like it came from the uncharted gamesā¦
just a ques. was that model rendered in vray in maya or max? maybe even mental ray perhaps?
What do you prefer for hair like the one you used for the caricature model?
thanks

Awesome tutorial !Where can i find the retopo tool for Zbrush?
@ shulinchung The shoelace that i did for my soldier is just use the ālineā tool in 3ds max, and covert them to Editable poly and bring them back to zbrush. if you still dont understand i can put a easy tutorial for you and email to you if you like, im also from Taiwan too.
@ wizzie14u Thanks Stephen, ill try to find some more time to do another tutorial for SSS setting of the hand i did. thanks!!
@ ROXE no problem man, hope you like the tutorial, please do ask if you have any other question.
@ KonginChains Thanks man, glad you like it, and to answer your question, the Clay Vray render of my model is all in max, however, the caricature model that i did was using metal ray in maya, cuz i think the hair render in maya is better then the hair and fur in max. its more easy to control and faster also. hope that answered your question, thanks again!!
Thanks for the tutorial
Iām sure your armour tutorial will come in handy for some people, Frank! Nice job!
Will look forward to seeing that tutorial on the SSS settings/rendering of the hand when youāre able!
