You should try the new sss2 skin shader in mentalray, it’s hidden in Maya and Max, you have to unhiden it you will get much better result. The old sss look too plastic. You should also work more the eyes (adding more deepness to them, they look rather like juste a color map mapped to it ) and his surronding area, especially the lacrymal gland and how it blend with the eyes, etc.
Great work on the skin details and cloth
Awesome work!

Dude! That realism is AMAZING! Keep it up!
Congratulations for the CGHUB GOLD AWARD!
great work Frank! I must say those fibermesh is really working out for ya, can’t believe how you made it look so smooth and natural, when many fibermesh renders tend to to look frizzy usually.
Congrats on the top row and kotaku plug by the way.
What a great of use of fibre mesh!
Hey great sculpture. So, where’s the tutorial of the skin?

These will be including some profession works and some personal works, and more importantly…the ZRUSH Tutorials for all of you!!
So a lot of people have asked me to do some tutorial on my Walter White fan art, so… I DID!
In this tutorial, it will be focusing on ZBRUSH BPR render, but we will start by doing an expression, fixing some anatomy forms sculpting, adjust the skull shape and detailing some wrinkles.
After that, we will get into BPR render in zbrush, i will be cover all the settings in details from how to create a skin material, lighting, bpr render settings and final comp in photoshop.
Here is the link to the tutorials and please remember to watch the introduction first, you will know what you would be expecting to learn in the tutorials.
Here are some images from the tutorials
