Hiya,
Is there any way to force ZBrush to use a different material by default other than that matcap red wax?
I just can’t stand that material and the first thing I always have to do is change it, so it would make my life a lot easier if I could just use something else as default.

Yes, there is a way. TVeyes made a plugin that will use any material you want as the startup material. I’ve tried this in Z4R2 and it works. The file is called 'HandlebarStartupMaterial.zip" and you can download it here.

Edit your post and add it to the title, but “Solved” might be a better choice though.

I got around to installing that plugin and trying it out.
