fog and depth cue not working on bpr. Answered.

I was trying the different new rendering filters, and when I tried to create a bpr render with depth and fog, it wont work.
I have turned the options on in the render properties palette but it doesnt work…
what should I try?

The Fog and Depth Cue are only for the Best Render, not the BPR.

To do the equivalent, you have to use the BPR filters, by create a blur filter modulate by the Depth and/or another filter with a flat color, modulate by the depth too.
The results won’t be exactly the same, but the BPR filters can allows you more possibilities of final render modification.

merci, je vais essayer aussitot.
thanks.

Why did this change? In 4.0 Depth Cue worked fine with regular BPR. Plus I had much more control over the blurring with the curves. Now with the blur filter using “Depth”, I’m getting bright jaggies when trying to do it with the BPR filters and it doesn’t look as nice as before. I’ve tried it with many different settings, but I’m not getting anything nearly as nice as before.

totally agree! Depth cue was a simple and nice DOF…

KrakenCMT, try to use Depth and Depth Exponent in “BlurBPR filter, you can achive needed result, but yes, its not so fast…

agreed, not convinced that it is an improvement.I was enjoying how easy it was to set up depth and fog.
but the renders seem a lot sharper with the new bpr functions, will just need some time to get used to it I guess…

In fact, it’s my mistake, yes, it was working with BPR in 4.0.
But the good thing about BPR is that you can tweak in real time your depth without rerender each time.

Totyo< can you explain how to do this with BPR?
