Focal shift in 4r8

I noticed focal shift effect seems off in 4r8. What I mean by that is that if I take clay brush, select 06 circle alpha + enable lazy mouse so I can see the default stepping then do few strokes I can clearly see difference between 4r7 and 4r8. It looks like to get same strong circle stepping I have to drop focal shift in 4r8 by -25 or so compared to 0 set for 4r7.

So the question is what changed? Brush curve precision? Bug? Id like to know so I can adjust my brushes correctly. Thx.

I noticed this too. I tend to use custom brushes with blocky alphas and now the alphas seem soft and circular. Lowering the focal shift helps, like you said. I find that a drop of just -2 makes a difference for my brushes, so I think the the focal shift or brush curve needs recalibrating.

I remember that something similar happened in another revision but I don’t remember how or when it was fixed.

Actually you are right about that -2. Before I was playing with -30 -25 and settled on that however now after double checking there seems to be huge change going from -1 to -2.

I just noticed that putting the slider to a -1 doesn’t actually stick unless you type it in - it goes back to zero after you start sculpting. When I type it in and press enter, -1 seems to fix the alpha problem for me also. Seems like the focal shift slider might be off by one.
