Flipping normals - model inside out

This problem only started happening a couple of days ago. Up until then everything was fine. I am exporting models to Zbrush that look fine in 3dsmax. They are objects that have been created using the conform compound object in 3ds. when I get them into Zbrush the normals are flipped. I know how to display both sides of the mesh, but the inflate and smooth brushes don’t work properly. I thought the problem was related to open objects. But these are closed objects. Anybody have an idea what I am doing wrong.

Thank You.

Just a quick and simple idea: what happens, if you flip the normals on purpose before exporting to zbrush? :stuck_out_tongue:

I dont know much about MAX

but in Maya you can put a nigative value to get the oppsite effect…
maybe that could help

If you can’t find the solution in Max, you can export the model from ZBrush again with Tool>Export>Flp active, then import the model again.

I the solution seems to be the flip button in Zbrush. It right beside Double in the Display roll out. This does the trick and the mesh imports back to 3ds looking pretty good. Thanks for all your help
