Flip Flop Guy WIP, stuck and could use some feedback

I’ve never posted here before (that I can remember) so I’ll start by saying hi.

I’ve been working on this sculpt on and off for way too long now and I’m stuck. I’ve stared at it so much that I can’t see what’s what anymore, so I could use some fresh feedback on it. My original inspiration was Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, but it’s not supposed to be a portrait. An old, relaxed guy on some caribbean island, having a smoke…

So any feedback/criticism is welcome; anatomy, detailing, pose, whatever. I really want to move on to the next project, but I don’t want to leave this as it is right now.

The rendered images are modo renders.

Thanks!

very very good

i love it ! really well made !..

only thing what I would suggest if he is old to add some more wrinkles all over the body - like you did in the face and hands…

and to work a bit on his cap…

but i love it already! :+1: :+1:

well the anatomy looks damn near perfect, the crotch area bothers me a bit as far the sculpt. What you’re missing is his soul, aka eyes. I’d pick a good angle like the one sitting down looking straight ahead and then start playing around in modo with rendering. Get it done for now and come back to it after listening to some fun Jamican music.

wobcoming: Thank you!
O/MI: You’re right. I guess I’ll have to be consistent. I like your sculpts (the ones linked in your signature).
aiman: Thanks! Yes, the crotch… the mesh is a bit messed up in that area so it’s hard to get it right. Maybe I’ll have to retopologize. And good point about the eyes, it would probably make a lot of difference.

Cheers!

Looks really good so far. More body wrinkles could be nice but be careful not to overdo it. One thing for me is the hat, I think it should be a tad bigger, and sitting more naturally on his head. It just looks kinda strange as is. I feel like most hats of any style tend to come down almost to the ears. Don’t be afraid to deform that hat a good bit to make it rest up there a bit better.

Great work so far! Just wanted to say I enjoy it and subscribe so I can see more. :+1:

Great Sculpt so far PollySong! The biggest thing that sticks out to me are his ears. There overall shape is good, but it feels pulled out of his head to much. Ears actually sink in to the head slightly. It’s also missing definition still and the ear lobe feels stretched in a strange way. The rest of your anatomy looks spot on. Great stuff keep it up!
