Flatten Brush

Hello all, does anyone know if there is a similer way to achieve the flatten brush in mudbox, what i have seen of it is it makes polygons flat for example

Before: /\ after: __ (i apoligies for poor asci art:P)

What flatten brush do you mean?
As far as I know there is no flatten brush in ZB2…
Except in the ‘update’ that never comes out :stuck_out_tongue:

ah i see, thanks. anyone knows if there is a zbrush 2 workaround to this?

This post by Pixolator shows some stuff you can do with current functionality.

I would imagine that you could also achieve some good results by masking the parts of the mesh that you don’t want flattened and then use an editing brush (such as Smooth) with a very large draw size.

Or masking + the layer (level?) brush on large sizes too might be effective.

You can get a very good flattening effect by alternating the Smooth brush and the Layer brush (in ZSub mode), perhaps adjusting the curve and Focal Shift.

Also, the Morph brushes can be very useful for selectively ‘undoing’ - as long as you’ve stored a Morph Target.
