Flat brush in 2.5 D?

Is there a way that I can get a brush that works like flat brush in the 3d brush in 2.5 d? Sometimes I just want to flat out certain area that I pull out.

Thanks

I can’t think of a 2.5D variant. The closest I can think of would be to use a Plane3D with Zsub active. This would truly flatten an area. Use the gyro to manipulate the plane into the desired position.

Yea… it’s not working out that well… but it’s something.
Hopefully zbrush 3.5 will have a flat brush for 2.5 D

Is that even possible to do?

  1. Select the Circle3D tool.
  2. Set the Stroke to Dots.
  3. Press Draw>ZSub.
  4. In the Picker palette, click on the Selected Orientation thumbnail so that the pointer is vertical. (This means the tool’s orientation won’t be affected by the existing pixols’ orientation.)
  5. Switch on Picker>Once Z. This means that the depth will stay at whatever the Z depth is at the point you start drawing.

Draw and enjoy.

Marcus,

That works pretty good. but when I change the orientation to vertical, I can’t get anything to happen. When I left it on the default orientation and once Z, i was able to flat the pixols out with the circle tool. But it also leaves me with a hard edge around the circle. I used the smudge brush and try to smudge it out. It’s gets pretty tricky doing it and does not always work.

Not sure why selecting the vertical orientation wouldn’t work.

You might also try the Blur Brush for smoothing:

  1. Turn off RGB and turn on ZAdd. Set Z Intensity to 100.
  2. Set Tool>Modifiers>Sample Size to maximum.
