I hadn’t posted in a while, but thought I’d share a recent image. It was mostly created with 2.5D tools. I really enjoy creating straight 2D art with ZB. Original size approx 4000 pixels
Questions or comments welcome.

Wow! What Can I say? Nothing…
OUtstanding !!! love
So it’s Ken B.
Pretty cool!
Been very glad to see some more 2d, 2.5d stuff being posted as it’s one of the best parts of zbrush!
Ps. thanks for the building a digital human book…i learned alot from working through it…heck am still trying to overcome some bad self-taught habits but the book has been a great help!
I like this Ken B
I know it’s 2d but the more I look at it I keep thinking it would make an excellent bas relief wall hanging.
Yes yes yes, Ken B, your amazing work is exactly I LIKE

Hi Ken,
good to see you still drop by now and again. This is an impressive use of 2.5D tools.
Wonderful image and I agree, it’s good to see some 2.5D work
Looks great Ken…you must have used the bump-brush, right ?
I have been getting mostly crashes from my system using this brush on large documents and with mult’ layers, do you have a tip for me…or did you use another brush ?

I sincerely apprieciate the comments!
I did print this one out large and it’s exciting to view your work that way.
Jantim: Yes, ZB unfortunately crashes with the bump brush on large docs. One way to get around it is to do your work on a smaller canvas, then resize it up. The downside of this is that you now have jagged pixols, but the blur brush (zmode) and some careful reworking may get you the rest of the way there.
Hi Ken…
I created a 4096x3172 canvas, and filled it up with all sorts of objects. Tried all sorts of combinations of brushes, and then played around with the bump-brush. No dice. It wouldn’t crash.
I’m running Zbrush on XP with a Gig of RAM. Is this more than you’re using?
Also an NVidia card, all on a Toshiba laptop, with 2G of swap space.
I don’t think the amount of RAM should matter, as long as your swap space is large enough to accomodate everything. Maybe the bump-brush has a bug where it doesn’t check if you ran out of RAM?

Exellent work.
Ocular: Thanks for the information. I’ve had quite a few crashes with the bump brush. The folks at Pixologic confirmed that there is a bug, although I’m still not sure exactly what conditions set it off.
I even seem to recall a crash with the regular brush on a large, multi-layerd canvas.
I have a Gig of Ram and work on XP Pro. I’ve tried various settings in the preferences as well, but no luck.
Ken B
I read a post some time back about the 2.5d brushes using a tablet (and without a tablet) that if you draw in a continuous (without stopping from time to time) line z2 runs out of mem and can crash. I am not sure if you are drawing (using 2.5d brushes) in a continuous line or not.

Wow! Man that’s actually a little spooky.
