First time zBrusher Struggles...

So, I am new to all of this…I’ve used 3DS Max for a majority of my 3D stuff in the past but was told to give zBrush a try for high-poly character work and texturing. So I did and I am enjoying it tremendously so far with my first sculpt. However, I’ve been having some difficulty with texturing seperate sub-tools, loading in new sub-tools and exporting textures to be used on lower poly meshes in 3DS Max. I’ve begun the polypainting on the body of the model that I am doing but when I try and texture the eyes it for some reason doesn’t work and the texture is applied to all of the sub-tools . Would anybody be able to shed any light and help a newbie out?

Please go easy on me…I know the model isn’t entirely anatomically correct.

Hi,
I’m not sure about what your problem is.
Polypaint only affects the selected subtool. So if your eyes are separated from the body, you shouldn’t have any problem to paint them.
But if you choose an other material, it may modify the default material of all your other subtools. You can fix it by assigning a given material and color to every subtool (with Mrgb enabled, clic on Color -> Fill Object).

I’m following you, Hundred ways to skin a cat right. Here’s one plugin SubtoolMaster. New myself, Found the Fill tool will allow for paint and or material additions. Me, got a do stuff in the right order, reading Keller’s book is refreshing. Go Maya 2012.
