first steps

Hi folks,

wanted to let you people see my very first attempts in understanding the tools of zbrush.
This is just a head that turned out while doing the lessons - it almost developed itself over the last day  and so it shows quite some flaws in the model which i couldnt remove yet. But with some more time i hope i will understand that thing called zbrush a little better.
Oh ya and i started texturing it today - so here it comes .

have a nice one

Good first try. Keep on doing the tutorials and running all the ZScripts and it will soon become easy. ANd if you need help just ask…

Glen said it all… great job… :+1: :+1: helluva lot better than my first head to be for sure :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hi Nemo,

With regards to the ā€œflawsā€ you mention, something that is useful to know is how to get rid of them.

If there is a big bit you don’t like you can try to subtract from it and alternately build it back up until you can level it. It will naturally be a bit bumpy after this, so…

What you then do is hold the Control key while in Edit Draw mode (Q) and paint a grey mask over the bumpy bit then go to Tools>Modifiers>Selection press the ā€œinvā€ button to invert the mask then in the same palette go to the Deformations section and drag the ā€œSmoothā€ slider as many times as necessary.

After smoothing you can add and subtract some more and smooth again. This is useful if you are basically happy with a lot of the model but you come back to it the next day and want to change a piece.

Apologies if you already knew all this.

pretty soon youll become a addict…tee hee…teehee…lol

Thanks everyone for the kind words - especially thanks to thelonious for the technique you pointed out. I will definately try this out.

By the way i am always happy to get feedback and constructive criticism and would never dream of being angry if getting any.

So thanks again all of ya - i still got a long way to go.

One question pops in my mind right now which i would like to discuss :
How about you want to make a low poly models for use in games - what would be a good aproach with zbrush ? model high poly - mask parts and optimize - reshape parts - mask again …
or is there a better aproach?

have a nice one
