i would define the neck and traps a bit more. That part of the sculpture looks more like blobs than a muscle and bone structure.

Yea it could use some more refining, going to fix that this weekend and add abit more detail to em. Hopefully I can make it abit more standout. Thanks for the tip any more tips are more then welcomed.

I’d say the minotaur show a lot more comfort with Zbrush than your previous sculpt. The neck needs some work, I’d just take a look at something like this. It seems like you’re trying to add muscles that aren’t there to make the neck look more tensed and msucular, and that’s tempting, but the human body provides plenty of muscles to exaggerate without having to make anything up.

With that being said, this model does seem to be more confidently accomplished than your last.

I’d like to see more detail in his hands and his collar thing, but I like the face and torso quite a lot. You may want to make the legs a little longer. He’s a penguinish thing, but I just don’t see how he could really walk with legs that stubby. Also, I’d like to see some more alphas and texturing added to really give some grit and realism.

Thanks Twitch!
Little update. Fixed a few things. Redoing his Necklace that was just a placeholder.C&C are appreciate.

No comments yet =/ any tips on whats wrong or good would be great.

To be honest, your modelling is too lumpy. What you need to do is vary everything to do with your brushes. Don’t just stick to the standard brush at the default value. Experiment with other brushes, other intensities and don’t be afraid to use the masking tool. Also, as Zach Petroc would suggest, work on your mass forms at a lower intensity then, as you increase your subdivision levels, you refine the form and details. Stuff like wrinkles are done last and can be done with a bump map instead. Also, don’t be afraid of modelling gently with a low intensity either.

Hope this helps.

alright.

I am going to talk about the asian guy bust.

here are few critiques.

  • first all, you need to see the whole head in the sculpt unless you are sculpting a mask. but since you said bust, I am assuming this is a full head. on your bust, the back of the head is totally absent. this will get in the way when you are dollying around it to see it from different angles. and it will never look right to u if you dont put the whole head there. you need to see a silhouette .

  • the face is too flat right now, you need to push the face backwards as you move along to the sides.

  • your ear level can never go beyond your eyebrow level . and the bottom line of ears should meet the nose tip level. also try to seperate the ear from the head more since the ear is attached to the head from a really small area most of it is detached.

  • the corner of the lips are always more backwards from the middle parts.

  • I see that you are dialing in the details for the fat tissue on the cheeks. before you do that, try to get perfect shape for the whole head and cheeks . leave those areas smooth on the round places like cheeks and forehead, tip of the nose, the chin. get the overall shape right with proportions first. then play with it without crushing proportions until you like what you see. and when you get the right volume and shape all around you can start breaking it, bringing in more details like the fat tissue. this will make your bust more realistic since you will have a foundation and then build details on top of it. if you dial in details before you get the overall shape right, what happens is those details will only look right from the angle you sculpted them. and when you rotate it, the magic will be lost.

  • although the face has really round features , some of them are really tighter, so you need to get sharper at some places like the limit line of the lips, edges of the eyesockets, the edges of ears and nostrils, the corners of the lips, the limit lines of eyelids, and some sharp dips like the dip between nostrils and cheeks.

I hope these help. happy sculpting.

Thank you guys for the tips, they are greatly appreciated.
Revanto- I see what you mean as too lumpy, I am in the process of doing anatomy sculps in Z right now which is going to help me great on that.
mavinova- probably the main problem for me was that i was going off of no refernce. Im going to put your words to use trust me.

Good job.
You might want to use the pinch or flatten brushes to make the curves look more dramatic. Also a minute work with the smooth brush will get rid of all the bumps.

Youve actually got the space between the eye and the side of the head right.
The nose is the right size.
And the skull above the eyebrow is right.

So your basic “head scale” is good.
