First Post:Male Anatomy Study

Hi all, I’ve been messing with Zbrush and looking through the forums here religiously for about a month now, and thought I’d post my latest Zbrushing. Its just my first attempt at a basic nude male. Its all just basic sculpting at this point. I havn’t had much luck with detailing yet. My pc doesnt want to let me sub divide enough to get down to the finer details  But other than that, I must say that I absolutly love this program! I would be happy if I never had to push and pull points in Maya or Max ever again  But at this point I think it is best to make the base mesh in a standard 3d program. Especially to do what I mainly plan on using ZB for, which is to make normal maps for game assets. Anyway, I’m not there yet, but I’m having a blast working towards that goal. Anyway, hope you like my model. Oh and BTW, I’ve still yet to really get in there and iron out the hands and feet yet. So this is kinda still a W.I.P.

Keep posting.

And welcome aboard

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. BTW, how do you paint texture on the model without it turning to 2d? Or is this not possible to paint on the 3d model? I feel like I’m missing somthing.

Hi,

What you are probably thinking is…that you can paint and rotate like in deep paint or whatever. So far it’s not quite possible in zbrush. When using Projection master it turns your model into 2d or pixols to be more accurate I guess and you paint on that then pick it up, rotate and repeat.

It has it’s advantages and disadvantages to doing it that way.
Projection master has it’s own built in zscript help…check em out or go thru the help menu in zbrush. It will help you to understand how it works. It seems strange at first but not for long. If you check out the links to some cool zscript utilities and plug ins in my signature you will find some tools to make things a little easier in some ways.

If you downloaded the Practical Guide some of the how to’s of Projection master will be found there as well.

Your model looks pretty good, seems pretty well proportioned etc…only thing that bugs me…could be lighting too…is the lower ab/love handle area seems kinda out of proportion or something…can’t quite figure out what it is…hehehe specially so early/late in the morning.

hope something there helps ya…

keep up the good work!!

Thanks alot Aminuts. Ya, your right, I guess I was wishful thinking about thinking it would work like deep paint. Anyway, it kinda makes sense now about Droping and picking up. I still think I need a faster PC to subdivide far enough. And ya your right about the lower abdomen area being not quite right. I noticed it too, but hav’nt went back in to fix yet. I havnt worked on this guy in about a week, cause I sorta stopped, so I could experiment with detailing and other stuff. Ofcourse I havnt had much luck. I just need to quit being lazy and do some tuts and check out some zscripts.

Lovely sculpture… He seems to be missing a limb

Just Jokeing… Verry cool sculpture… I love the form

Very Beautiful model!! Great sense of form.

Great model!, I am looking forward to seeing how you will refine it .

The beauty of zbrush…like all 3d programs but more so with zbrush…is you can go with what amuses you for the moment. Take your time with this guy, experiment and step away like ya did. When you’re ready to come back you will come back with lessons learned and will make him an awesome model.

it’s one of the best things about zbrush, there is no bad session with it…you are always learning something. Which makes it the most awesome 3d tool ever imho because am driven to learn something new constantly. But that’s why I am nuts:rolleyes:

take your time…ya got a good thing going here!!

Thanks for the comments fellas! And Aminuts, your totally right. Like right now I’m taking a break from trying to do the detail stuff, and I’m practicing up on zsphere modeling, and having a good ol time :stuck_out_tongue:
