Hey nomad, thanks for replying. I thought the head was ok since I wanted hem to be a short-looking old man, but I’ll adjust it and see how it looks. I’ll rotate the forearm (that’s always being tricky to me). Will add more saggy and wrinkled look to the muscles and keep working on the legs. Thanks for the feedback
hey danny, thanks for replying. I will scale him up to make him look taller. Yeah, I can see that sculpting fat is harder than just sculpting plain muscle. Will keep working on the fatty look of the arms. I’ll smooth the upper arms to remove the union of the biceps and the brachialis. I’ll work more on the upper legs. Will check out Zack petroc’s course one day. I’ll try to borrow Goldfinger’s book from a friend. Thanks for the feedback
@totyo, sorry for the inconvenience, will do.
@silvaticus? I liked Arthur’s pose so I used it for this sculpt.
Update to the old man study; added light modifications to the upper and lower body.
Feedback would be appreciated (more updates coming, of course). Thanks in advance!
Hello, I think the folds of the knees are too big.
Hey, Philuxius, thanks for replying. And what about the proportions? Do you see this “old man” as a little kid? Thanks for the feedback, mate
it’s a seriously cold day here in NYC with this snow (I hate snow), so decided it was a good day to stay indoors and do a speed sculpt (or at least try). I went for the usual muscular man. It took me a little more than 6 hours (I know, turtle speed for something that can’t be called finished) but it was significantly faster than my previous bodybuilder studies.
Feedback would be appreciated. Happy holydays!
First go at sculpting cloth…
Yes, I was completely lost, lol. Pointers or links to good tutorials on how to sculpt cloth would be appreciated.
Excellent sculpt, but I think the leg is too large
just a test.
Hey Philuxius, Thanks for replying. I honestly don’t see anything wrong with the height of the legs, but I’ll look at them again. What about the cloth? could you give me some pointers to sculpt the folds? Thanks for the feedback!
Nice Study. But I feel the side silhouette could be better.
And also your arm have a weird dent in beside the elbow.
For the front, I think the waist area might be too thin for the person.
And also the upper body should be more V-cut.
Did a overdraw on your file, hope you don’t mind.
Keep up the work man !
It looks fantastic, great anatomy.
Good job!
I hear you, man. Thanks for the link, a master like Ben will sure give me the right pointers.
Hey DEDE, thanks for replying. You’re right about the brachialis/extensor, I’ll add more clay to that area. I’m not sure about the frontal changes you made. I didn’t want to make him too bulky from the front. I’ll pull the external obliques a bit, though. Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks a lot, Eric, I appreciate that
Second go at sculpting clothing. This time I used the selwy brushes, clay and pinch.
Tips would be appreciated!
Old man study #2.
Feedback would be appreciated (still a wip). Thanks in advance!

Hi, I followed your thread again:). Good to see you’re not wasting time. Great start on the clothing. A little advice is that don’t try to imagine them, study pictures, always have pictures opened when doing these. I see you came back to the old man. Waaaaay better, the proportions are there, the arm is not strange anymore, it’s good that you toned down the muscles made him more fatty, that’s the way! The face is also better, more expression. The only thing I would suggest is, by looking from the side view, the back is a little too bulky; it’s a bit pronounced; it needs a smoother transition from the neck down. Even the pose is more dynamic:), and this I like. You’re doing great, improving; looking forward to more stuff from you. Maybe if you continue with your anatomy stuff, try doing a baby or a child, these are tricky:), but you can handle it for sure! Good luck!
Hey nomad, thanks for replying. I’m not wasting time because I wasted too much already wondering if I had to have talent to draw first instead of just, you know, start drawing and learn. I do look at pictures, but you’re right I don’t study them nearly enough. Looked at more references this time around with the old man; I’ll go back to it and work more on the back and the body in general. Next I’m gonna try sculpt a fat guy, then a kid and see how they turn out. Thanks for the feedback, mate, always appreciated.
PS: This is a different old man study sculpted from the ground up. I guess I have a signature when it comes to sculpting old man and women.
