Beautiful image !
“If I may ask, what part(s) did you use Blender for? I’m curious since I dabble in Blender myself.”
Just the giraffe.
Many moons ago, before I could build a sphere, let alone anything else, I found a cool giraffe model online for free. I never liked it, due to it’s low poly count.
Now that I’m better at all this, I opened it back up and reworked it to my satisfaction. (Thanks to a giraffe tutorial for Maya).
Wow. This has come so far since the first post. I really couldn’t imagine what you had planned before – just knew that there WAS a lot more planned. This is beautiful. Spectacularly beautiful.
turned out brilliantly kathy… love how you were able to flip your layers to cut down on the work load…great use of zbrush…
You can practically feel the fur, Sis…That is really fine fiber brush work, and thanks for the Garden Of Eden, Mark II!
I love the way this turned out.
Superb update Kathy
SUPERB, Kathy. Beautiful piece.

Where the heck was I when this first posted? Draft #1 is awesome, Kat. But draft #2! Love the gold, love the trees, LOVE the woman! You see so many male characters on this forum, thanks for your last two femme fatales (and also to Ztevie for Catwoman, and Zoid for his two lady aliens, hope I didn’t forget anyone).
Edit: Sorry! I also loved “Lisa” (I think that was her name, the Eskimo looking gal?) and the “where’s my wig” lady, and the somewhat sleazy looking Rose (no insult intended), and the the girl with the flowers…and…and
The leaves and pods in the trees are objects. I lost count at 221 leaves.
The rest of the vegetation is 7 new leaf, grass and bush alphas I made specifically for this piece.
The berries are simple spheres with JellyBean material.
A bit of postwork and Elephant herd with AlphaBrush. Added one light with heavy shadow.
Astounding piece of work Kathy! Chock full of nice touches: The elephants in the distance, the immense feeling of depth, the detail on those trees .
You are a Z master and no doubt.

Wow Kathy,
You must be a VERY patient person! Absolutely fantastic!!
The colors and the serenity of this piece just jumps out at you. I have never seen a sunset in Africa but I now have a good idea of its majesty from looking at this work.
wow, Kathy…i love this last pic…it’s beautiful. those plants and trees look real! great work!

Stupendous, Kathy! I love everything about this, but the vividness of the colors is especially eye-grabbing. This will undoubtedly look great in print.
Thank you, too, for the bit of National Geographic-type information. It’s good to finally learn that jelly beans come from bushes in the Serengeti.
This is a great finish! The elephants in the background are a nice touch too.
Wonderful finish, Sis!
The richness of the vegetation brings this to life, and your lush color scheme is a meal for my eyes…
A Z-Masterpiece, and one of the best images you’ve produced thus far!
