'Fill Object' Color keeps falling off.

I am trying to lay down a base color on my character before adding layers to begin poly painting.

I get as far as painting colour on my first layer but if I turn the record button off, my fill color disappears, reverting back to the material color.

Workflow is thus:

  1. Turn off ZAdd
  2. Turn on Rgb
  3. Color (select color) and ‘FillObject’.
  4. Add layer and begin painting.
  5. Toggle ‘REC’. Base color vanishes leaving the original material visible.

Does anyone know whats going on? Why am I losing my FillObject color?

That’s strange, I’ve no idea why that should be happening. What OS are you using? And does it just happen with the one model?

Hi Marcus

No I get the same issue with other models…I’m on Windows 7.

I should also mention that I am polypainting over sculpting detail which is on its own layer too.
So, essentially there is a layer containing the sculpting detail then I am starting to add other layers for polypainting using FillObject to create a base colour.
As I understand it FillObject can be used at any point during the process …thought I would mention it though.

Well, I tried various tests and didn’t get any problems. I think, to be on the safe side, you should only fill the base object with all Layers off. You can’t fill a layer with color - it will only fill what you’ve already painted.

If you want to upload a project file somewhere, I’ll take a look to see if I can find what’s happening.

Thanks Marcus

To send you the file would have to be a restricted access / direct link of some sort Im afraid.

I appreciate the offer!
