File size suddenly balloons and project become unusable

Hi Zbrushers,
I was wondering if anyone else has seen this and what they might have done about it. I’ve been running into an issue where after working on a project for a while, the file size suddenly balloons, and performance degrades to an unusable state. By “suddenly balloons” I mean that nothing logically changes (no new sub-tools, no new sub-dividing), but all of a sudden a 200 MB project becomes a 400 MB project. At the same time the project gets super hang-y. Just trying to do something as basic as rotating view will hang with the Mac spinning beach ball for a while, then finally refresh with a change to the view that’s much bigger than the small amount I moved the stylus. I tried quitting and restarting, I tried restarting the computer. I’m not having my undo’s save with the project. In addition to the fact that the file size doubles (or more), is the fact that I’ve worked on files that were much bigger without problem. It feels like a file corruption, but it keeps happening. At first I though maybe one of the sub-tools was the culprit, so killed it and started from scratch with clean, low poly geometry. Everything was going well for a while, until, like I said, for no noticeable reason performance became unusable again.

Any thoughts anyone. I appreciate any help,

-Israel
