File error al the sudden

Hi,

for weeks everything has been fine but today when learning I wanted to open a file from a tutorial and ZBrush gave me an error in a popup window saying

File error
Error has been encountered while trying to load the file.
Loading has been aborted.

I tried some other files as well but they all give me the same message. I then tried starting a new project and I made a quick 5 minute sculpt. I saved it as a document and as a tool.

When I try to open the document, I get the same error. Ditto when I try to open the tool. I simply cannot open anything anymore!

I am working on a Macintosh with OS X Mountain Lion. I reinstalled my Operating System but that did not help. I reinstalled ZBrush but that didnt help neither.

I searched on the internet for hours, but I havent found any solutions yet.

I hope someone knows what is wrong and how to fix this, cause I am stuck now and cannot do anything at this point.

P.S. As said, it has been working flawless for weeks, I have been learning several hours a day, never had any problems or anything… neither did I install any new software or made any changes in my Operating System or its configuration. I just went to bed, get up, wanted to study again and then I noticed that this happened.

I am using the newest ZBrush version, but with 4R5 this problem is also there…

Yours sincerely,

GZ

Program runs but can’t open files?; Error as shown leads me to believe data loss or incorrect linkage. Damaged file or file missing.
Program won’t run at all?

Hi,

ZBrush runs fine, and everything works fine the only problem is that I cannot open files, tools, documents or anything else in what ever format I saved it.

I tried various things like reinstalling my Operating System, reinstalling ZBrush et cetera but nothing helped. I have no clue what else I can do or try. Even when I make a new document myself, sculpt something and save it, I am unable to open it again… so strange.

Maybe it has to do with file read permissions, but then again… I have no clue how to reset permissions on Mac through terminal commands :frowning:

I would submit a support ticket if I were you.

Try saving a file in the same folder but with a different program, like Open Office, or Text Pad. It sounds like it could be a file system issue and not Zbrush.
