Fibers material makes model black in preview render?

Hi all, please see attached screenshot. When I apply a fibers material to my model it makes all the affected areas flat black. Is this normal? Bit off-putting to say the least? I can only view the model in Best render view?

Did you turn on Fibers in the Render menu?

Not sure if its from the material. Try pressing the V button on your keyboard and see if it is ok;.
