Fibers acting double sided ?

Was trying to see the difference between (roughly) a 50% and 100% mask for fibers. Nothing out of the ordinary just applied a mask (top side) with the MaskPen of the different strengths, double clicked to load a fiber preset from the Lightbox and it’s acting as though it were double sided.

Are you sure the masking didn’t bleed through to the other side of the two close surfaces? Did you use backface masking for the masking pen?

Yes I’m dead sure. I managed to mostly fix it by turning of “double” for polygon view, although it still isn’t 100% right.

In that case, I’d just chalk it up to some combinations of fibermesh settings produce fibers that penetrate the surface they are on. If you try out the various fiber presets in Lightbox, you’ll see some penetrate the surface and others don’t. There are too many variables in play for me to guess whats going on in this case, although Gravity settings can probably affect this.

Once you convert them to geometry, it should be simple to trim the excess away.
