Fibermesh width is stretching into large planes, not remaining as thin hair

Hey all, I’ve got an issue when sculpting fibermesh hair, take a look at this screenshot:

When sculpting the hair, using only GroomBrush1 and GroomHairToss, I am getting the hair stretching when viewing the polygons. Is there a way to correct this issue? I would hate to have to redo the entire hair when an issue like this occurs…
