FiberMesh™ Preview

I was thinking the exact same thing, just didn’t bother the team as they maybe quite busy getting everything ready. Thanks pixo devs.

No New Teasers as to what to expect on the 23?

I am so amped for this upcoming release.

Definately need to get more RAM and maybe a better Graphics Card before the end of this month.

you won’t get much speed improvement with a better graphic card, if i recall correctly, zbrush doesn’t use the graphic card for the viewport, is all CPU based…

[EDIT: sorry, that was rude, I will shut up about spambots now]

I think you were right Mealea.

Untill we have Zbrush 5 that will have 64bit, there little point in having extra Ram if there is enougth for Zbrush to have 4gb. what you need at this time is plenty of raw processing power, and a fast HD, a SSD would do the trick. As metioned Zbrush currently dont support GPU processing.

“Hold the phone”… I run Zbrush on a 64 bit system… windows ultimate lets you utilise as much RAM as you have. I have 24 Gig and using hyperthreading with my I7 it operates with eight cores. Ram as much RAM as you can into Zbrush. Just need the correct operating system to utilise it.

yes, but zbrush is still a 32bits app, so no matter how much ram you may have, I have 24 as well but won’t be able to divide a model as high as with other solutions, I think they are finally planing to go 64bits for zb 5.0…

Yes Pixologic said that Zbrush 5 will be 64 bit. Thats correct, no matter how much ram you have, a 32bit app can only access 4gb max on a 64bit OS. A application being 64bit compatible is not the same as it being 64bit coded.

I have 16gb, and only 3, 64bit apps which is Messiah Studio, Modo 501, and Adobe Photoshop CS5 ext, eveyrthing els is 32bit.

I am tipsy and happy to here there will be a 64 bit version.

When and where was that said?

As others stated this is incorrect. A 32 bit application can only access up to 4 gigs of RAM even on a 64bit OS. This goes for both Windows (64 bit versions) and Mac OS (which is only 64bit, no 32 bit versions). I won’t go into the nitty gritties on why this is but for the more curious most programming books will explain this.

Hopefully ZBrush 5 will be 64 bit, then we can access much much more ram (I forget the amount).

This is correct. I was trying to find the link where I read it and I can’t. Pixologic created their own system which doesn’t use OpenGL (hence why its not found in their system requirements)

…maybe we get more insert brushes…

@JackMcRip- you can make as many insert brushes as you want. The possibilities are endless. Watch the videos in this thread #13-15 and you’ll be good to go!

We need a brush that could scatter randomly several different meshes from a list. Something like brushes from Vue. Such a brush would work much better than what they offer to use with hair.

thank you for the link

Was a video about Noisemaker released?

No , I don´t think so… I was expecting that for this week but I guess we don´t need to preview anything if we can view it in a few days.

G’day,

I’ve recently purchased a copy of ZBrush R42, when these updates come out, does ZBrush automatically update or is there a button somewhere I have to press in the program? or Is it a seperate download? Thank you.
