Fibermesh move as a whole

Hello everyone,

I’m experimenting for the first time with fibermesh and I have encountered a problem. I’m following a tutorial where the person moves all hair as one big geometry with the move tool. I want to do this so I can move the hair in position but whenever I use the move tool, it moves only singular strands of hair instead of moving the hair as a whole group.
How do I remedy this? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance guys!

Well, you could increase the size of the move brush radius and zoom out so that all the target verts fall inside. You’d probably have to deactivate dynamic brush size mode to make it large enough though.

It’s probably easier to just enter transpose move mode (W) for the hair subtool, and move things by click dragging on the center circle of an action line, or by click dragging on one of the hair meshs while holding down ALT.

Thanks a lot, Scott. A follow up question, I want to sculpt the hair into a particular form.

The transpose tool is moving the whole hair geometry in a certain direction but I want to move certain clumps of hair in a more flexible way. Exactly like this:

When I try the move brush to sculpt the hair, like the guy in the video, it only moves single strand of hair no matter the size of the brush. I hope, I’m making sense. Let me know if I’m not clear.

Thanks,

You’re probably using the Move Topological brush, not the Move Brush. The Move TOpo brush will only affect the first strand it touches.

Otherwise, he’s just using the move brush at various sizes to affect more or less hair, then smoothing. He also has the hair clumps done in sections as separate subtools, so he can work on them a section at a time.

I recommend disabling dynamic size mode on the brush size slider for this sort of work (shift click on the word “dynamic” above the size slider to toggle). That way you can easily affect more or less hair just by zooming in and out.

Thanks, Scott. I figured it out. It was zbrush being buggy. I restarted it and now I can move the hair in a desired fashion with move brush
