I’m not sure what i’m doing wrong here. No matter what the base and tip color is, I get the same color
of fiber. Any ideas? I’m not using a preset, just hitting preview and adjusting the color.

Try selecting a different material so you can see the colors better. Try SkinShade4 in the Standard Materials palette.
I tried different materials and no luck. However I quit and loaded r2 made sure I was doing it right in there and it worked. Then went back to r4 and the color is now working. I guess it was a lil zquirk all good now.
Just tried it again and now it’s not working. It works on a new tool, but if i try to use the one from the photo above i get the same results. Strange, oh well I’ll remake the tool and see if that works.
Ok I figured it out. I had polyframe on and that was responsible for my issue.
