You are too humble! The pic is great! (That’s why people are asking YOU :))
Love this last one. I actually like the tight shot more (ie with no background) it adds to the constrained feeling, for me.
I also like now how the hand is affecting the mouth area and the lighting, texturing and find detail work is superb.
It’s your portfolio, but I think it deserves inclusion. Its a great, provocative, well executed piece of art, and you should be proud.
Just enjoy what you are doing. Your last render is really awesome and I’m waiting the last version to tweet that on our official account and add it to our Pinterest board (then it should follow on FB too).
My only concern on your image is more on a technical aspect, I have the feeling to have it off focus. It’s not a matter of sharpness, more I think of a focus point (which are most of the time on portraits, on the eyes).
Perhaps you discussed of that above, I’m sorry if I missed a comment in relation to what I just wrote
You know whats in your heart so finish what you started and finish it in that way its meant to be finished.
I see nothing wrong in this piece but we all know people will always be people.
As far as the smoke idea if you have Photoshop try this.

Totyo, thanks for the input. I’ve actually been faking DOF in photoshop, since vray DOF takes so much extra longer to render. So really good eyes for catching that, but it’s corrected in the final. Also, that would be about the most amazing thing that ever happened to me.
To everyone, thanks a ton for the input, I really appreciate.
So…

Again: love it. This looks like top row too me !
No problems Just by curiosity, can you post your image without the dof to see with and without for the eyes? Using the dof through the camera blur and a depth map is most of the time pretty accurate in such render with the current point of view.
Or perhaps reducing the global amount of blur. Even the lips are off focus while the look realy nice too!
My 2 cents of course
This is great. I absolutely love the execution (whoops couldn’t help myself :)) of the skin and the pores. Fantastic piece of work.
Awesome final render. Now put that skin shader on the unfinished portrait of your wife!
congrats on front page of reddit awesome work on the final piece
Thanks Zborn. It’s been a nuts morning. I woke up to find my site down. It got 60,000 visits last night between 2AM and 4AM before it went down. My email is filled up with random stuff.
Totyo, here is a non-DOF version.
awesome man glad to hear that you’re definitely not going to have any trouble finding a job for sure and best of luck finding one, i’m unemployed too
Terrific
Get a grip… Zsoka
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all the support.
Also, I will be doing a tutorial over the next couple days for how I translated this scene from zbrush to Maya/Vray the easiest way possible and without losing any detail, including the fibermesh that I used for the hair and the fine peachfuzz on her face (almost invisible). I know a lot of people won’t get much out of it, but some might, and a couple have asked, so it can’t hurt.
Again, thanks a bunch everyone for the help.
Great picture!
anything you provide will be much appreciated
well, it looks blurred for me even without the dof on all my computers, is it my eyes?
FYI, the images has been shared on FB/Twitter/G+
realy grt work …love it
A tutorial would be really appreciated!
Anyway, great work and render
