Female head study

This head study was done for a class project. It is of my girlfriend…so starting out there was a little pressure not to screw it up
I obviously still need to create some good hair for her.
Base mesh and render in Maya.
Sculpting and texturing in Zbrush.
C&C always appreciated.

very very nice … id like to see the new version with good hair …

good work keep it up :+1:

Goldenry,

Very nice, yeah I concur would like to see it again with the updated hair. That said you did a nice job, like the color of the skin. Big kudos for you making the nose a realistic size lots of folks tend to under size noses on gals. Not sure how close in likeness it comes to the real thing with no reference pic but regardless it looks very good. Keep up the good work!! :+1: :+1:

Thanks for the critiques
I’ll certainly update when I get the hair on.

It’s looking very good! Good balance with modeling and texturing, makes the averall very cool.

Very, VERY, nice! Wow.

Great texturing! The only thing i find sticking out a little is the reflectivity in the eyes.

Here is an update to my female head study.
I spent some time reworking the skin shader and eyes to make them more realistic(as suggested by everyone).
I still haven’t gotten control over 3D hair yet, so the hair in this image is a blend of photo and hand painted composited in Photoshop.
As always C&C much appreciated. Thanks

WOW!
fantastic face modell. very realistic. great work.

Thanks a lot for the comments Mike.

hyper real stuff man…can u show some more poses of her face…keep it up

definitely a great progress - the things that stand out at the mo are the upper eyelids - the rest of the face has lots of nice imperfections while the eyelids are just one even colour… I know there’s makeup on them but even so, the eyeshadow doesn’t cover much imperfections, it just tints everything and acts like a powder not a conceiler… I’d add some bumpiness and more colour variety to it…

also the outer corner of the eye’s going downwards a bit too much

minor points though and overall a great job! I like the lips in particular:+1:

gr8 …carry on…keep ur improvment…

that is the most realistic/believable skin i’ve ever seen…nice work, nice sculptin’…what’d the girlfriend have to say about it?

Yeah i agree with Intervain

and i think ears need to be worked a bit more too

good job ! keep it up

You really are improving on the model. Impressive. Keep it up. :+1:

its getting closer to what I would call “kissable”

Nice shader work. Love the feel of the skin. Just one thing. Tear ducts? You have something great going here.
I gotta say though. You must be really brave! My girlfriend gave me the drop dead look when I asked her haha.

Keep up the good work.

sahil_raptor - Thanks, I’ll work on rendering some more angles…most likely the next step is to render a turntable for my reel.

Intervain - That’s a very observant call on the eyelids. It’s funny, my girlfriend had also pointed out that the eyelids looked off, but I was thinking it was 'cause she didn’t like the pink makeup. Good explanation in your critique and suggestion. Focusing on those minor points is what really helps take an image to the next level. Thanks for comments.

supriyo - Thanks

skinnybonez - Wow, thanks a lot…it’s great to hear. My girlfriend loved the image and loved that I decided to “commit” so much time to her…er uh at least the 3D version of her. lol

guillom - Thanks for the positive feedback. Yeah, the ears probably need the most work as far as texture goes. Honestly, I intended for the hair to be covering them and so I payed little attention the texture there.
In this image i ended up applying a DOF filter for effect and to blur 'em a little, I don’t know if that reads well enough though.

Giantsun - I appreciate the kind words.

DeusEx - lol…that is a unique way to describe it. I like it. I hope you don’t mind, but I’m gonna start using that for my crits too. If you have any suggestions to bring it to “kissable” status please let me know:D

Brett - Thanks a lot! Yes, I think there is a lack of the juicy bits in the inside corner of the eye. It’s pretty funny, when she heard I was going to create a 3D head and I was wondering who I should do…she eagerly volunteered herself. SO, maybe I’m not as brave as you’d imagined
(on a side note, I check your cgsociety page- That 3d bust of your Dad is many, many levels of incredible)

Thanks all for the crits…
