Very new to ZBRUSH .Just got Zbrush 3.5 last week , just wondering what are most peoples favourite or common brushes they like to use ? There are so many to choose from .

Aside from a workhorses like standard and move brushs, some of my favs are:


  • clay (essential for working with unified skins)
  • Layer (always handy for building up a texture form on top of something.)
  • slash 3 (for making tight lines and grooves–similar in some ways to the old DAM standard brush Mod)
  • Planer Cut (for flattening areas)
  • The various polish brushes
Believe it or not, most of the brushes (save the super-specialized like like “stone wall” which are their to illustrate a custom bush concept) have very useful purposes once you learn what they’re for and what they do. If you ctrl-click on a brush, it will give you a short description of the brush.
