Fat Cyclops WIP

Just a little something Ive been working on for my portfolio. Base mesh in Maya, UV mapped, sculpted to 1232384 polys. Ive got a little more work to do on the shoulder areas, the face, and the inner mouth. Then its on to detailing with alphas & texturing.

Heres a little turntable of the model too. It gives you a preview, but click download to get the full size 6MB file.

Crits, comments, & suggestions are welcome…

As you can see, my quick & crappy concept sketch of a gross, flabby creature sort of developed into something completely different…Oh well, you go with the flow I guess.

promising start, im sure he’ll look great with more detail!

I love this creature,I’d suggest working on the main forms like the ankles and arms with a bit more muscle and bone shapes .The side of the feet also could be tuned a bit more.Maybe a little too much eye ball is present also.Hands /forearms looking great,so thats my crits for all there worth. The neck is to die for!!

cal :+1:

Thanks Cal. I’ve moved on to using just alphas now, but I think I’ll take that into consideration & go back and work on those areas a little bit more. I wanted to give him a look that was sort of a combination of jacked up & flabby, like not overly muscular, but not exactly in shape. Just… well… big. Hehe. If you’ve ever seen the cyclops in the PS2 game God Of War, thats kinda where I got some of my inspiration from.

Cool bro,I just put my thoughts out .My opinions are perhaps just my views but I try to tell artists what I’d do if the model was mine.I like him ,flabby style n all!

Your doing some cool stuff,
cal

Finished sculpting. Heres some texturing work. On the body I still need to finish up the feet, lower legs, & inner mouth. After that I’ll move on to giving the eye a realistic texture. I’ll also work on the loincloth a bit more. I havent imported them yet, but I also modeled some spiked wrist bands in Maya that I’ll do after the other stuff.
