Fast Terrain making in Zbrush

I imagine that this sort of thing may have been posted on here before somewhere although I cant find it. I was just experimenting with the surface noise in Zbrush 3.5 and applying it to objects (the 3D form), realizing that it is a good way to make terrain when applied to a 3D plane. I will experiment with this further, maybe add colour and a second plane with moderate noise applied to position some water in the lower part of the scene, and maybe some fog. Anyway I though I would share the play around as to maybe inspire others to have fun with it and see what can be done.

thanks for sharing mate! :+1:

very cool, cant wait to see the final.
how did you get the surface noise that extreme?

Nice FIVE STAR experiment…:+1: Needs a dragon or eagle nest ontop of that peak top left, the one with a hole dug out in it …

AA-ron: I shall fire up bootcamp and 3.5 later and output all the settings and post them on here a bit later. anatomising on 3.2 at the mo.

SpiritDreamer: that would work, maybe some birds flying in the air to give it some scale. ta

Thanks, Arran J Lewis, would greatly appreciate it! I was trying to get my noise to go higher than a value of “1” on one of my projects but couldnt get it to work.

AA-ron, Sorry it taken me a while to get back onto this. For this image I used a 3D polyplane with 16mil polys, so divide x 8, although you don’t really need to have it so high. The curve I used has not got to much noise added to it and so this has kept the model smoother. The scale is at its highest and the strength s also at highest or near enough. You can see that you will mostly get symmetry with this, although you could combine pieces and cut terrains up to make a scene. I still haven’t found time to add water and other bits as extremley busy most of the time but its on my list of fun things to try out.
