As you may have read in an earlier post I have been the target of extreme harrasment by a former ZBC member. Despite some small attempts to stop him the other sites I frequent are unable to prevent his disparaging remarks. As I sit and ponder this I realize (as I have known all along) that I don’t really need the net to proceed with my work. I am able to do that in the real world just fine. I have come to know a great many of you very well and have made numerous friends. It is unfortunate that in the digital world the monsters can propagate their inflammatory remarks at will with no real fear of retalliation while the targets of said remarks have no true recourse for defense. People tend to take the “politically correct” stance and stay out of it thus enamouring the Trolls in their own self-made glory. It is with heavy heart that I say good by to you all and voluntarily rescind my membership here at ZBC. I have already asked to have my CGTalk membership suspended and am in the process of removing my Renderosity gallery. I thank you for your time and understanding and I am grateful for the support you have given me this past year. One day I will have a website up and running and will make the address available to you. But I shall not participate on the net in any other way shape or form.

Hey Mentat7.I would just like to say your posts will be missed here very much.But I would also like to say that by you doing this it is just letting this man/woman to win.This is probably exactly what the feble minded fool wants you to do.But if you have to go - good luck and I think we all will be looking forward to your address to your site once it is up and running. :+1:

I didn’t see any smileys in your post, so I take it you really mean that.

I truely hate to see you leave. Over the course of your stay here at ZB I can honestly say you have brought many a smile to my face and many a thought to the brain. Long ago I reached the point that if you post, I was sure to read it. You do have a following here.

I know that we all grow and what is satisfactory today may not be tomorrow. Do return when you are ready. There are many who enjoy your posts, I am one.

We all go through times of trial in our personal lives, and it seems you are about to embark on one yourself. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to when you are able to return to us once again.

Thanks Mentat7 for all your efforts over the past couple of years, you’ve set a high standard for everyone to strive for. This place won’t be the same without you.

Mentant you will be missed! And speaking for myself, I have appreciated the many times you have given me very valuable tips & suggestions on my posts. I have also enjoyed viewing your work very much. I never miss your posts, (I may not always comment but I never miss them).

As for your reasons for withdrawing from the net, I can completely understand, you do not need the harassment. No one does! And no one deserves that kind of treatment. I hope you can take some solice in knowing that those who feel they must harass others, are usually seriously jealous of their target. It is a twisted way of making themselves feel better about their own shortcomings. Just consider the source, as my mother used to say.

So take care my friend and I look forward to seeing your website when it is ready.

Its truly sad to see a mentor such as yourself leave… especially for the silly reasons you provide… I don’t check these boards often enough but when I do I usually scan through for a few names that I know who always provide the good stuff. I’ve learned alot and your style is an inspiration.

If you need hosting space for your images I have a large chunk of bandwidth not currently in use. If your not being harrassed here I see no reason to leave a place of comfort and support… but if you must… feel free to return at any time. I’m sure everyone will welcome you with open digital arms… no questions asked.

What sparked this vendetta anyway. If it was something in IRC chat does someone have the log? Not that anything really excuses what happened next, but it would be interesting to see how trigger happy these vandels can be.

Hello Lonnie,

even I don’t know you I’m very sad that you leave. Being just a beginner with ZB it was allways an inspiration when I saw your work. And I’m shocked that one stupid individual can change your life. You say that you don’t need the net but it was/is part of you. Don’t throw this away.

WHAT!!!

You cant quit, you have to stay and help the rest of us get as good as you.

I know I have not been around to much lately on IRC and the form but I do like the tip and tuts you did on IRC and this form. My work is starting to easy up and now with 1.55 on the way I will be doing more ZBing so you can not leave yet.

Don’t let this fool chase you out. We all of us can turn the tables on this person and defend you. I was not aware that this was going on so point the way to some of the threads that this is going on and I for one will go post to defend you if thats what it takes to keep you active.

Forget this fool and just put them to shame by showing off your work.

take care, lonnie…while i’m terribly sorry to see you go because i enjoy your work so much, i completely understand how it feels to be net-stalked, and have considered doing just the same as you are.

I would truly like to add my support to Lonnie to stay…nothing wrong with taking deep breaths and kewling down a bit regardless of what you originally wanted to do…it would be better if you stayed…your friends here want this badly.

Well… the fool wins and WE lose. You’ve been so helpful to those of us who want to improve. You taught me so much and I hoped to learn more… now, because of an idiot you’re leaving? completely?

I hope the fool has a good chuckle at our expense. You might not need us Mentat… but we do need you for your tips… or just to inspire us with your work. ~sigh~

If someone is hurassing you, there are people and places you can report them to. Keep any appropriate correspondence you have with them. There’s no reason they should alter your lifestyle while they get off scott free. I’d say give it a while and see if it calms down first too. Then again if you feel you’re spending too much time on the net, you’re sure free to take time off too! :slight_smile: But you and your work will be missed should you choose that option. Good luck.

Judging by that log its so clear how blameless you are Mentat… How anyone could expect to waltz into any zbrush chat room and start throwing mud at Glen Southern and not expect to get booted!! Mentat7 - YAY! Glen Southern- YAY! EZ - Boooo :slight_smile:

This is very sad news. Lonnie introduced me to Zbrush with is posts to the 3D forum at Talkgraphics.com which led me to the Zbrush conference. Although I have not learned enough about using Zbrush to post any images yet; I always enjoy viewing everyone else’s images.

I will greatly miss seeing Lonnie’s work.

I can’t believe this, Lonnie. You’ve been so helpful to so many people and your work has been enjoyed by so many, it’s a real shame to see you go. I hope you can somehow get this situation resolved soon so that you can come back and resume making your very important contributions to the forums.

Mentat, I can assure you that we all know that any negative, troll-type posts were never made by you. You’re a brilliant ZBrusher and great person to have on any forum! We all hope you can resolve this issue and continue your posting here. :slight_smile:
