I’m in the beginning stage of creating various game assets. Could not move along however, as I’m having major issue in rendering a low poly model I sculpted in ZBrush using normal map baked from high poly model.
Model sculpted in ZBrush, UV unwrapped in Modo. I used ZBrush Normal map baking as well as Substance Painter and Xnormal, but all give faceted model when rendering in Modo. I also tried rendering in KeyShot 8 with the same result.
In ZBrush, I checked Smooth UV, SNormals, and Tangent when baking the Normal map. I also checked Suv in the Geometry option, but did not get any better result.
In Modo I tried smoothing edge normal all the way up to 180 degree, it does smooth the low poly mesh before adding the normal map.
I wonder what am I doing wrong? I’ve seen people turning a simple cube to an amazing rock structure with normal maps, but I can’t figure out how to solve the problem, noting that the base low poly model has about 3000 polys.
Would truly appreciate any help.
