Faces and Creatures Study.

Hello ZBC!
Well its been a very good few years of me stalking the forums and being constantly surprised, inspired and awestruck at some of the amazing work here on the forums (namely the TopRow and some amazing interviews).
Enough said! This thread is for me to finally put some of my work out there on the forums and see what everyone thinks…
The first thing I will post is something I whipped up yesterday afternoon. The concept was inspired by watching Alex.A, and seeing how he took a 10 poly model and basically turned it into amazing art with the magic of zbrush.
Here is my first (of many hopefully) face studies.

  • More soon.

something else i did…
this was done as an assignment in the intro to gnomon course i did a few weeks back.
didnt use zbrush, so i hope thats ok… but yeah here it is.
(PS also attached is the concept sketch - the idea behind it was to have this creature/robot that had so many arms and so much potential… it just wanted to learn and consume information, but it was held back but the very thing sustaining it… the power cord.)

enjoy

MORE SOON!

-Joe

ok, so here’s my issue…
I did the UV’s for my model in UV layout (they worked fine) did a normal map of the zbrushing i posted earlier, and took it into maya to render with M.R…
however something has gone wrong and the normal map is displaying really harshly and seems to be mashing up the mesh something terrible…
Here’s a pic - Help and would be muchly welcomed

Thanks

-Joe

There’s something quite moving about the top sculpt, and it looks like you have a very lovely touch with a pencil, too.

Keep it up! :+1:

(Sorry I’m too new to this to help you with the technical question!)

Why thankyou Facenna  im not exactly a guru (YET!) but if you have any questions, or are in need of help with ne thing CG send me a msg or just post here and ill be more than happy to give you a hand.

I like the first sculpt, but i like the idea of the robot more… you should make it look like it is trying to reach some books or something… and make the plug look as though it is about to fall out, then work up the image… i think that could become a very good image

Hexadecimato: thanks very much  yeah when im done exploring sculpting ill do another version of that robot and sculpt a lot more detail, and render in mental ray, and maybe even do some sort of animation. CHeers.

Here is a sketch of a creature im working on in zbrush at the moment. im in my mac partition at the moment so the screens arent at my finger tips… but the sketch was so here it is  also here is another sketch for the same project just a different creature. the second one isnt in zbrush yet. but will be as soon as im done with the first one.

just a VERY quick sketch i did after a somewhat annoying saturday…
i was listening to the strokes when i did this… i saw my cintiq sitting on my desk, and just decided to draw what ever i felt like… it was nice to do that.

found out the fix to my problem whilst watching master class :stuck_out_tongue:
turns out i forgot to select tangent space normals in that drop box… ergh so simple yet so much annoyance… heres the final render i came up with.
Ahem! also i did a screen cap of a creature design, ill post a screen grab of the final creature, but please head on down to http://jobo123.deviantart.com/art/bird-man-TIME-LAPSE-146599589
and click download… i started out with a brainstorm/sketch and took it through the process. for some shotty reason my windows screen cap wouldnt work with maya… so that bit is missing, but it only took 10 mins for that base mesh anyway :stuck_out_tongue:
