"Extruder tool" - How to make Drap, Walls....etc - [ZScript Added]

another zscript for the quicklinks :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks EZ !

  • thx Wenna for information… it be changed.

  • et voilà!!! Ez do It !!! :+1: :+1:

been stopping in and out as time permits, but saw this thread and my brain got happy about what I was seeing…so I took some time this morning to experiment with the technique…here is my alph and the pyramid I created with it. I simply snapshot the tool, moved it up scaled it down and repeated the process…all z cept sig and water…the things in the sky were just to add interest for me with the experiment. thnx for the tip/technique…very kewl…

used the same alpha a poser arm and psp water to create this I aint Got NO BEER!!! icechest image…

Just thought I would throw a couple of pennies into the mix. Here is how I would go about creating a pyramid, or other extruded 3d item. Granted, probably not what it calls for in regard to walls or curtains, but I remember someone bringing up the subject a long time ago about creating crisp extrusions. Of course, with the new feature update coming soon, we won’t need this.

The first image explains what I did very basically. The second image uses the same technique, but with a slightly more complex alpha. In image 2, the Make 3d alpha version (the little flat one) is 151,672 polygons. The taller item is only 39,601 and uses the inflate Z, size Z method.

Don’t forget to turn of H and V smoothing for even sharper edges.

here is a test to do a wing.
always Make 3d fonction…

Ps: nice work Slosh… it very difficult to obtain right angle !!
:+1:

This is one of my early beta test images using this technique. Never used these wings for anything but maybe one day…

oh my god !!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

WOW! M7that is a way over the top beautiful wing-thanks for that tip.

after some modifications…(and inspired by post of Mentat  )

thats one niccccce tip mentat, have you tryed to make a feather wing with this method?

The techniques showed in this thread are great.
A question for Faud B. and Mentat7:

When you modeled the wing, to give deepness
and curvature, did you use the move tool or
a bend modifier?

I like a lot the result you achieved and it
was driving me crazy about how to make such
beatiful wings.

Hi B76,

The mesh created from this technique is still a basic mesh. So more work is needed to “finish” it off. For example after creating the alpha mesh I used FLATTEN to flatten the backside of the wing so I could change the thickness without destroying the depth of the bone structure. I then used GRAVITY on it to make it dip and finally TWIST to give it more arc. I then used ZADD to draw in more depth on some of the bone structure, MOVE to pull out the tips, and ZSUB to push out the wing membranes so they would have more curvature between the bones. Remember that Alpha skinning gives a fairly flat mesh so you still have to do some refining to it to get it to a finished stage. But it can save you a lot of work by giving you a good base mesh to work with.

yeah I wanted to thank you 2 for showing those wings , I used them in my latest work.

I made a few changes in edit mode to the basic mesh by using zcut and move with a quite large brush size to bend the wing a bit.

Just to say thanks to Fouad for starting this thread and everyone else who has contributed to it. It’s really thrown up a lot of ideas from what at first glance seemed a simple little tip. Good stuff. :+1: :+1: :+1:

i know how to do this , but i had to make my line in another paint program cause I forgot how to pull the image i paint on the canvas and turn it into an alpha. Thus I did it the long way - made the line in another app.and imported as alpha.Worked out well i got a curtain, but i like to be able to make an alpha from the paint in the canvas???

Hi Justin
Just grabb it with the Tool MrgbzGrabber and you will obtain a texture and an Alpha  (Auto crop Off iyou want an exact aera zone)
Pilou

Fouad B.

thank you for the excellent tip using make 3d  :+1: :+1:

Mentat7- thank you for the wings tip  :+1: :+1: - do you have a zscript of your first cape on page one of this post

Slosh thanks
Ron Harris thanks
