Extremely frustrating - cant even understand the basics

Im extremely frustrated because I see the awesome potential of this software, yet can’t seem to learn even the basics. There’s so much that is holding my creativity back and it’s making me angry. :frowning:
I have three fundamental questions I really need an answer to, and I hope that you can help me out or give me some tutorials.

Im trying to make a teddy bear head using 4 primitives and I have no idea how to get those four into the same mesh so I can sculpt it. Workflow:
Sphere brush > tools palette initialize > z value 50 > draw it on the canvas >
place a marker > hit the edit button > convert to mesh/tool > draw another sphere placing it on the marker (have tried placing it on a separate layers) > moving it up to the left a bit (left ear) > edit button > convert to mesh > do the same for the left ear > press the “teddy bear head tool” in the tool palette > opening up subtool > append > select ear tool > append again > ear tool > trying switching the visibility on and off but its obvious the items on the canvas has nothing at all to do with this!

Exactly how do you model parts and merge them? Or let me rephrase that:
How do I model like in the document with the example soldier? (the one with kevlar, shoulder pads, gloves etc - and every part is a different subtool). I finally found the plugin called subtool master that allows you to merge subtools, but to do that you have to actually create subtools in the first place - which I have no clue how to!!

And how do you select things on the canvas? One thing that has annoyed me alot is if I draw two things, say two spheres in a row, I can’t go back and select the first sphere.

Third question:
Transformations are driving me insane. I’ve tried making a long rectangular prism (long cube), and it took me about an hour to realize that the transformation buttons on the top shelf doesn’t affect the stuff if you save it as a tool. (draw sphere > transform using upper shelf buttons > make polymesh > draw the new tool on the canvas > tool got the same base properties as before and is totally unaffected). I now know about the “initialize” tab under the tools palette though, so my question is:
What is the actual usage of the transformation buttons on the top shelf? They seem absolutely useless to me since none of those transformations stay.

I’ve looked for basic tutorials like this but haven’t found anything. I’ve also searched the practical and references PDF-files you can download from the site.

Let’s get you started with basic tutorials. www.pixologic.com/zclassroom

Then move on to www.pixologic.com/docs, which also includes tutorials.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
I’ll look thru those later tonight.

Awesome!
I greatly appreciate the time you spent making this video. HUGE THANKS!

Im still confused. Im able to append several 3d-meshes to each other but I end up with TONS of replicas I can’t delete from the canvas!

Workflow:

drawing a sphere > place marker > edit button > convert to 3d mesh > rename it PM head > exit edit mode to draw the ear (ear got different initial settings thats why I dont just clone) > select sphere tool > draw the sphere on the marker > place it NW of the head > edit button > convert to 3d mesh > rename it PM ear 1

then
clone the PM ear 1 > rename the clone PM ear 2 > exit edit mode > sphere tool > initial coverage 180 (nose) > draw it on the marker > rotate so the flat side is away from me > edit button > convert to mesh > rename it PM nose > then select the PM head tool and append the items and end up with deformed duplicates

I don’t find this logical - what exactly am I doing wrong and where the heck does the dupes come from?

nvm I get it
The draw mode is only to create the individual parts while 3d-mode is where you actually assemble these parts and make them into one?
How do I select items in draw mode and how do I delete items in draw mode?
Also, I made 3 mesh-tools and appended them on the canvas, saved the document but when I load it I cant enter 3d-mode! It’s like the mesh on the canvas has jumped back to not being a mesh.
