Extract Mesh Q

Once I extract a mesh from a high polycount mesh, e.g. from level 9, the new subtool mesh stays level 9 too, without giving the possibility to lower level.

Is there a way I can reduce polycounts from the new extracted subtool or do I have to retopo?

Thank you.

Mesh extraction is always based on the polygon structure of the source model.

I would recommend dropping to a lower subdivision level and extracting there. This will give you fewer polys in the extracted mesh. You can then divide it as necessary to get back up to a higher count if you need. In short, always extract at the lowest level that gives the mask sufficient definition to get a good result.

Hi aurik,

As usual, thank you for your reply and suggestion.
It would have been nice if Zbrush carried the high level history as well onto the new extracted mesh.
Guess that http://www.verold.com/ will help out with the heavy retopo?
Cheers.
