Exporting Uncompressed (QT) Movies from R7?

I understand QT support was yanked from zb4R7 and compressed mpg is our only direct method of exporting movies now. Checked out the cool “Frame Seq Exporter” script that TanTeckWang was so nice to share, but unfortunately the way it handles axis makes it pretty much useless for my turntables.

Is there any way to DIRECTLY access the rendered frames that Zbrush generates for it’s “movie” before export and simply hijack there or are they in some proprietary format? It’s very frustrating to no longer be able to save out high quality movies now, even in the 32bit version of zb.

Here’s a plugin that I hope will do what you want. It will create a turntable and export the document and/or BPR render passes for each frame. It will respect the axis setting in the Movie palette Modifiers provided only one axis is set.

  1. Unzip the file to your Desktop, open any folder created by the unzipping and then copy the TurntableExport_4R7_01.zsc file to your ZBrush 4R7\ZStartup\ZPlugs64 folder.
  2. Also copy the TurntableExport_4R7_01.zsc file to your ZBrush 4R7\ZStartup\ZPlugsfolder if you want to use the plugin with ZBrush 32bit.
  3. Restart ZBrush.

You should now have a new sub-palette in the Movie palette called Turntable Export.

  1. Set up your model.
  2. Set the axis, spin frames and spin cycles in the Movie>Modifiers.
  3. Choose which images you want to export from the switches in the Movie>Turntable Export sub-palette. If no images are selected then the plugin will simply record a ZBrush movie.
  4. Press the Render Turntable button. You will get different file dialogs to choose locations for each of the image types you have choosen.

HTH,

Thanks for the plugin Marcus! It will really help a lot in getting nicer looking turntables. :+1:

You’re welcome, zber2! I plan to add some more features ASAP.

Hi Marcus.
This plugin is exactly what I need. However when I press the zip to download it, it points me to an administration error page.

So could you please repost this for me?

Mary.

Hi Mary,

Brilliant. Thanks so much Marcus. It works!

Wonderful plug-in. Thank you!

Seriously man, this plugin is awesomeness on a stick! Many, many thanks for sharing it.

Any chance this could be used to record the forward history and not just a turntable.?
